The course will involve:

  • Understanding of The Colour Wheel
  • How to identify Tints, Tones and Shades
  • Understanding Colour Harmony and exercise
  • What is Colour Context and exercise
  • How are colours perceived and how does this affect your designs
  • Identifying colour, cool and warm exercise
  • Aperture Exercise
  • Playing with colour tools
  • Tools and resources

Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced Required  – Any level

Student Supplies (Minus sewing kit):

  • Variety of felt tip colours
  • Paints and paintbrushes, along the lines of acrylic paints

Prep work

  • No prep work

Required Classroom Amenities (sink, sewing machine, etc):

  • Access to a colour printer
  • Access to a browser to access various websites

Course outcomes:

  • The confidence to use colour in conjunction with your design work
  • The ability to put colour palettes together with assurance that they work
