The course will involve:
- Learning how to create flowers from Silk Abaca and to paint the petals to give a natural effect.
- Creating a headband using the draping qualities of silk abaca
You will need:
- .5 m silk Abaca in natural colour
- 2 hair bands which ideally are covered and can be sewn together at the bottom.
- PVA stiffener
- 2 Small pots of acid dyes crystals. A good one is Easifix ALLinONE Acid dye crystals – available here. www.coloucraft-ltd.com No added fixatives needed
- 3 Small paintbrushes. Small flat artists brushes are good or small household paintbrushes will do
- 3 glass jars to hold water and liquids
- A couple of old newspapers
- Water spray (not essential)
- Needle
- Thread
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Hairdryer
- Pattern template (supplied by us)
Prep work
Stiffener 25cm (width) of your 50cm width of abaca with pva diluted 1:3
You will leave with:
- Knowledge on painting flowers
- A understanding of creating an abaca headband
