The course will involve:

  • A choice of over 30 coloured fur felts (these contribute for a 3rd of the course cost) which will be prepared ready for you to block
  • Exploration of different trims you can use on Fedora’s.
  • With tuition you will block your fur felt hood to your desired head size and shape.
  • Creation of a feather trim or a petersham trim to adorn your hat

You will leave with:

  • Knowledge of how to block a fedora crown using a choice of wooden blocks and using pinning and steaming millinery techniques and how to size your fedora and trim your brim to suit.
  • An understanding of different trims
  • Information on suppliers and materials.
  • A fur felt fedora hat (which fits!)

Here is a little more information;

Our address is Cold Bath Place, off Cold Bath Road, HG2 0PQ.  There is free parking in and around the streets adjacent to us and also on Cold Bath Road, if possible avoid parking outside the shop as we may have clients coming in and out.

There are lots of lovely sandwich shops to find lunch and we will as always provide teas and coffees and snacks throughout the day, should you want to bring your lunch we have a fridge.

We will start at 9.30am (please arrive for coffee/tea from 9.15am) and we will finish at 3.30pm.

Please can you bring with you an apron and a bag to take your work home with you.  Also best not to wear clothes that might snag or ruin.
