Jenny has over 20 years fashion styling and millinery experience and looks to new trends for inspiration, as well as creating headwear which flatters and enhances her clients look. She offers a bespoke service as well as hat hire from her shop in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
She will advise you on millinery to suit your face shape, outfit and occasion and will ensure you are comfortable and confident in your choice. Choosing a hat is far more than just matching a colour. As well as the choice to hire a hat, should you wish to commission a design, as a team of experienced milliners Jenny and Beth are able to create occasion or bridal headwear to your exact requirements.
Jenny’s designs have featured on the front page of ‘The Times,’ in ‘Vogue’s Top ‘Ascot’ hats, ‘Marie Claire’ and the ‘Daily Mail.’ She was also featured in ‘Tatler’ as ‘the Best Milliner in Yorkshire’.

Jenny’s passion is reflected she said ‘ I love seeing the way my clients feel when wearing my headwear; they seem to brim with confidence that a well-suited hat can give them.’
The team is headed by Jenny who started the business in 2006. Jenny’s background includes working for many retailers including the design team at ‘Debenhams,’ specifically working on the ‘Designers at Debenhams’ Range. She completed her HNC training in Millinery in 2006 having previously gained a 1st Class Honours in ‘Fashion and Textiles Management.’
She loves the challenge of creating unique headwear which both enhances her clients look and makes them feel fabulous.
In 2022 Jenny was joined by Beth Ellis, who previously trained in Millinery as an intern for Jenny in 2017 whilst studying Costume Design with Textiles at the University of Huddersfield. Beth then went on to work for renowned milliner Jane Taylor in London and more recently the Fashion Millinery brand Emily-London. Beth’s strengths lie in design and exceptional workmanship, and she is particularly passionate about the precision work involved in creating the bridal collections and exploring new techniques to bring into Millinery designs.
About Our Millinery School
Jenny Roberts, a highly skilled and experienced milliner who has been teaching millinery since 2015, currently offers tuition in all aspects of millinery. The carefully crafted classes are delivered from her studio in Harrogate, UK, as well as virtually, via Zoom.
Jenny’s tutorials are planned and resourced to the highest of standards. The sessions, support all levels of abilities; from novices wanting to develop millinery as a hobby, to broadening the skills of professional milliners, wishing to expand their repertoire.
Jenny’s designer knowledge and experience is vast! As well as creating many bespoke designs for distinguished clients attending events such as as Royal Ascot, Jenny has also taught at ‘London Hat Week’, for ‘The British Millinery Association’ and for ‘The American Institute of Millinery.’ Jenny also serves on the Education Committee for The British Hat Guild and is proud to be an ‘Ambassador’ of the ‘British Millinery Association. Having such a wealth of experience allows Jenny to bring a rich source of insider -designer knowledge to the ‘The School of Millinery,’ which her students really value.
While Jenny has reached ‘dizzy heights’ in the world of designer millinery, she is also very practical. Her classes are accessible by all, and she goes to great lengths to ensure her students feel well supported and she consistently takes the time to explain methods and approaches with care.
