Jenny Roberts, a highly skilled and experienced milliner who has been teaching millinery since 2015, currently offers tuition in all aspects of millinery. The carefully crafted classes are delivered from her studio in Harrogate, UK, as well as virtually, via Zoom.
Jenny’s tutorials are planned and resourced to the highest of standards. The sessions, support all levels of abilities; from novices wanting to develop millinery as a hobby, to broadening the skills of professional milliners, wishing to expand their repertoire.
Jenny’s designer knowledge and experience is vast! As well as creating many bespoke designs for distinguished clients attending events such as as Royal Ascot, Jenny has also taught at ‘London Hat Week’, for ‘The British Millinery Association’ and for ‘The American Institute of Millinery.’ Jenny also serves on the Education Committee for The British Hat Guild and is proud to be an ‘Ambassador’ of the ‘British Millinery Association. Having such a wealth of experience allows Jenny to bring a rich source of insider -designer knowledge to the ‘The School of Millinery,’ which her students really value.
While Jenny has reached ‘dizzy heights’ in the world of designer millinery, she is also very practical. Her classes are accessible by all, and she goes to great lengths to ensure her students feel well supported and she consistently takes the time to explain methods and approaches with care.
The School of Millinery runs 6 types of courses:
Virtual Courses via Zoom – these courses can be taken live on given dates/times but can also be viewed for up to 4 weeks after the course.
Online Courses – these are courses that can be watched online anytime

Private courses via zoom or in studio; these can be on any chosen technique and at your request.
The current virtual courses schedule can be found here ‘Virtual Courses.’ This enables students from throughout the world to access our course schedule. We teach using 2 screens enabling students to access a close up of techniques. Classes are kept to 10 students to allow for individual attention and using screens we are able to regularly check in with the progress of students which allows lots of interaction. We also offer some of these courses as recorded and watchable for 30 days, during these courses interaction with students is via the chat, these courses allow for students in different time zones to access our courses at a time to suit them, these courses are often offered afterwards as Online Courses.
Technique Book Courses
These are practical courses delivered over the website which include written step by step instructions with images and video clips, yours forever for you to refer back to whenever you need

The Venue – Cold Bath Place, Harrogate, North Yorkshire HG2 0PQ
The Classes – Day Courses usually run from 10am to 4pm. Please arrived from 9.45 for refreshments. A maximum of 6 students will be taken per course in order to give individual attention. Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided. Lunch can be either brought with you or ordered from the nearby deli.
What to bring to your studio course – Bring along an apron, some enthusiasm and a love of hats!
Course Costs – Course costs are individual depending on the course and materials
Private Making Courses Online or Virtual
•We are able to offer individual tuition days in the studio at a rate of £350 per day (9.30am – 5pm) or £300 (from 10am-4pm), we can tailor the day to your specific requirements. (The course does not include materials).
We offer virtual making courses via zoom in 3 hour blocks, these are £150 for each block and we are able to tailor the content to your learning requirements
Core Modules – The costs of the core modules, up to 8 hours learning and an additional 4 hours 1-2-1 mentoring is £550
First you complete your core modules with Jenny. Each of the four study areas include an up to 2 hour pre recorded presentation showing you how you can be successful within each particular area of your millinery business. Within this learning you are introduced to a series of tasks which are designed to provoke questions and allow you to assess and action the success criteria’s for your particular business. As you progress you will develop a definitive plan of what you need to action into order be successful. Once you have completed a module and Jenny has digested your completed tasks you will have a 1 hour 1-2-1 zoom with her to help you realise what needs doing and enable you to benefit from jenny’s ideas, problem solving and expertise.

Once your have completed the initial 4 core modules you can pick any of the further modules depending on your business need, these will work in the same way and each include a 1 hours 1-2-1 zoom mentoring session

If you would like to sign up to all of the modules at one time there is a reduced cost from £950 to £750
Once you have complete your chosen modules you are eligible for further mentoring sessions at £75 per hour.
