This workshop will introduce you to the skills of making a wired headband from scratch and cutting feathers then wiring them and fixing into the crown body. This hands-on workshop takes you through all the skills you need to create this design and make many more
Course Timings
This course will take place over the 2 days in 2 x 3 hour blocks and run from 5pm - 8pm (UK Time) please note up a further 4 hours independent prep time may be needed between the 2 parts of this course. Time to play and create your own signature style from what you have learned

This course will take place over 4 hours. Please note the recording will be available for you for 3 months after the course should you not be able to attend the live session or if you would like to re-visit the techniques.
Those wanting to explore a different brim technique which you don't need to have a brim block for . This is an advanced demo and students need to be experienced with sinamay to execute the techniques from the demo.
The demo will involve:
Learning how to create a bias brim, a technique which works well with waffle and plain sinamay and enables you to block difficult shapes as well as creating brims using less material.
Different hats designs will be explored using this technique including blocking the brim, creating headpieces and trims as well as a basic brim which you don't need a brim block for.

Course Timings
This demo will take place over the 2 hours and is DEMO only you will not be sewing along. Please note the recording will be available for you for 3 months after the course should you not be able to attend the live session or if you would like to re-visit the techniques but stopping and starting the demo which will help you execute the techniques in your own time.
This workshop is an introduction to ombré fabric painting technique and shaping of organdie material
You will need to be confident with a needle and thread to fully enjoy this workshop. This workshop is suitable for beginners.

A understanding of the types of dyes needs for this technique
A knowledge of how to use the dyes to create the ombré effect on fabric
The ability to paint and make fabric leaves to create a headpiece or use as trim
A technique for attaching your petals to a headband
All the pieces to complete your head piece and an understanding of how to attach the leaves

This course is aimed at those wanting to learn how to use beads and wire to make Bridal Headpieces. This hands-on workshop concentrates on beading techniques and how to incorporate them into typical bridal hair fixings.

An introduction to different types of beads, wire and how to use them
This hands-on workshop uncovers the mystery of different wired beading techniques to create a variety of petals, flowers, leaves and adornments
You will learn how to incorporate lace and pre created fixings into your designs including the use of crimping beads
You will learn how to use the techniques created and secure them on to the following
Metal and plastic combs
Double comb headpiece
Barette spring hair clips
Metal crocodile clips
Tiara bands
Hair pins
Time will be spent practicing the techniques and in between the 2 sessions you will add to your collection, the final session will be about using these in your designs in different ways

The course will involve:
Exploring and experimenting with Jinsin, a material renowned for its sculptural quality. It creates incredible shapes when curved and flexed.
How to edge jinsin an crin to create sculptural designs
Exploring and experimenting with Silk Abaca, a material which is fine and smooth and can be free-shaped, blocked or used for draping. Because this material is interwoven with silk, it is pliable and creates amazing curves when twisted and shaped.
Using crin to edge your design and create drama.
Creating a felt cage to create your design on

Students who want expand their knowledge and techniques with felt blocking and trims and perfect a circlet crown.
The course will involve:
Blocking a felt circlet shape using the traditional methods of hand blocking with pins and steam - lots of hints and tips for how to get no wrinkles
Learning how to wire and attach petersham ribbon to a circlet
Creating a felt bow to adorn your circlet with the remaining felt
Learning how to attach the trims securely to the circlet
Lear how to add veiling to your circlet
How to create an elastic and a comb head fastening for your circlet
Professionally finishing your piece
Level - Aimed at students with some experience of blocking and sewing

A felt circlet headpiece with veiling and bow trim and the ability to make more using these skills.

About the Module Business Mentoring ProgrammeWhen: This programme can be taken at a time to suit you and you can space out the modules to suit your other commitments.
Where: The pre recorded element of each module is delivered online via a recorded zoom or vimeo link so you can watch anytime and also re watch for the duration of the programme and up to a year after. Each module’s 1 hour mentoring session takes place with Jenny via a zoom link. Each session will have full notes which can be downloaded from your personal business log on,in the business portal on our website.
